Vanessa Paradis

Did You Know? "I'm Waiting for the Man" is a Velvet Underground song about a strung-out junkie waiting for his drug dealer and his next hit of heroin. Vanessa sings the lyrics as "Waiting for My Man," and in her interpretation, it's about a girl waiting impatiently for her boyfriend. This was the first song she and Lenny Kravitz recorded together as a test to see if they would make a good team. Lenny got a lyrics credit for changing "the" to "my."

Did You Know? "Silver and Gold" is the first song Lenny ever wrote for Vanessa. His story: he wrote it in front of her, strumming his guitar in the studio and coming up with the lyrics and melody on the spot. Vanessa's story: Lenny was up all night writing a song so that he could impress her the next day. "Yo, baby, check this out." When Lenny was asked to comment on Vanessa's version of events, he replied, "It worked."
