In November 2006, Canal+ and Allociné.fr reported Vanessa joined the cast of director Guillaume Nicloux’s new film, La Clé (“The Key”). La Clé is the final film in a trilogy of police mystery/thrillers. The previous two films, Cette femme-là (“That Woman”) and Une affaire privée (“A Private Affair”), played to international audiences. According to the reports, Vanessa will replace French actress Emma de Caunes, who was originally cast in the film. Other cast members include: Jean Rochefort, Thierry Lhermitte, Guillaume Canet, Marie Gillain, and Josiane Balasko.

According to Cineuropa.org, La Clé, which will be done in the film noir style, will recount the nightmarish search of a police officer (Canet) for his father, who along the way meets several characters, including the detective from A Private Affair and the woman from That Woman. The film was written by Nicloux and Pierre Trividic. The producers are Philippe Rousselet for Les Films de la Suane and Frédéric Bourboulon. Filming will take place over a 10-week period in the Paris area between mid-November 2006 and February 2007. The expected release is in the second half of 2007 with distribution through Warner Bros.

No details about Vanessa’s character have been released. However, she was spotted in mid-December 2006 filming a scene for the film with Canet on a Paris motorway.
